So...What exactly is Cryotherapy?

The narrowing and opening of blood vessels to send newly oxygenated and nutrient enriched blood back out to your extremities.

Exposure to extreme cold causes several physiological responses at once. The skin’s cold receptors stimulate the nervous system causing vasoconstriction of the blood vessels. When the skin surface temperature reaches freezing for even a few moments, cold sensors in the skin send a signal to the brain that the organisms life might be in danger. In a response to protect the body from the critically low temperatures that could lead to hypothermia and death, the brain gives orders to all parts of the body to constrict the muscles and tissues in order to send blood to the core of the body. This helps maintain a normal core body temperature and forces the body to oxygenate your blood supply in order to quickly send blood to your core.
